I. Definition and Types
A flange, also known as a flanged flanged disc or flange, is a disc-shaped part that is mainly used for connections between equipment such as pipes, valves, pumps and vessels. Its main role is to tightly connect two flanges together through bolts and other fasteners, so as to achieve the sealing and connection of pipelines or equipment. There are many kinds of flanges, including threaded connection (wire connection) flanges, welding flanges and clamping flanges, etc. Different kinds of flanges are suitable for different working environments and pressure levels.
Function and application
Connection: As a connector, flange can connect different pipelines, valves, pumps and containers closely together to form a complete fluid transport system.
Sealing: flanges ensure that there is no air, water or oil leakage at the connection through the principle of face sealing, so as to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the fluid conveying system.
Supporting: flanges can also be used as supporting parts of pipelines or equipment to improve the stability of pipelines or equipment and reduce vibration and deformation caused by force.
Convenient disassembly: flanges are easy and convenient to disassemble, which is suitable for equipment and pipelines that need frequent cleaning, overhauling or replacement, and also convenient for maintenance personnel to carry out maintenance.
Flanges are widely used in many fields, such as water supply and drainage, petroleum, natural gas, chemical industry, fire fighting and so on. In these fields, flanges play the key roles of connection, sealing, support and dismantling, providing a strong guarantee for industrial production and fluid transmission.
