Choose the right API 5L X52 pipe

API 5L X52 pipes are low-carbon microalloy steels that are in accordance with API 5L standards and contain specific carbon, manganese and other elements. They have a yield strength of no less than 359MPa and are suitable for oil and gas transportation projects, but not for boiler tubes. They are more corrosion-resistant and pressure-resistant than ordinary carbon steels, and are more cost-effective than special high-grade steels. They are selected based on the transportation medium, pressure, and environment to meet engineering requirements.

Choose the right size

The size selection should be in line with the actual project, considering the outer diameter, wall thickness, length, etc. The outer diameter range is wide, and the wall thickness is selected based on pressure and corrosion resistance. Commonly, it ranges from a few millimeters to more than ten millimeters. The length is fixed (6 meters, 12 meters, etc.) and unfixed. Low-pressure branch oil transportation can choose small outer diameter thin-walled pipes to reduce costs; high-pressure long gas trunk lines require large outer diameter thick-walled pipes to ensure safety and prevent size mismatch from causing failures.

The manufacturing process is rigorous, and steelmaking uses alkaline oxygen and other methods combined with ladle refining. PSL2 is specially treated according to fine grains and has no repair welds. Seamless pipes are heated and perforated, rolled and stretched, and sized and straightened; welded pipes are divided into ERW, LSAW, and SSAW. They are first formed and then welded according to the process. After welding, the welds are strictly inspected and polished. Each link is strictly controlled to ensure quality.
