What is carbon steel pipe?
Carbon steel pipe is also called CS pipe. Carbon steel pipes are made by perforating steel ingots or solid round steel into capillary tubes, and then hot rolling, cold rolling or cold drawing. Due to its strength and ability to withstand pressure, carbon steel pipes are used in a variety of heavy industries such as infrastructure, ships, distillers and fertilizer equipment.
Types of carbon steel pipes:
Carbon steel pipes are divided into two categories: hot-rolled steel pipes and cold-rolled (drawn) steel pipes.
Hot-rolled carbon steel pipes are divided into general steel pipes, low and medium pressure boiler steel pipes, high pressure boiler steel pipes, alloy steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, petroleum cracking pipes, geological steel pipes and other steel pipes.
In addition to general steel pipes, low and medium pressure boiler steel pipes, high pressure boiler steel pipes, alloy steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, petroleum cracking pipes and other steel pipes, cold rolled (drawn) carbon steel pipes also include carbon steel pipes. Thin-walled steel pipes, alloy thin-walled steel pipes, stainless thin-walled steel pipes, special-shaped steel pipes. The outer diameter of hot-rolled seamless pipe is generally greater than 32mm, and the wall thickness is 2.5-75mm. The outer diameter of cold-rolled seamless pipe can reach 6mm and the wall thickness can reach 0.25mm. The outer diameter of thin-walled tubes can reach 5mm and the wall thickness is less than 0.25mm. Cold rolling has higher dimensional accuracy than hot rolling.
Ordinary carbon steel pipe: made of high-quality carbon structural steel such as 10, 20, 30, 35, 45, low alloy structural steel such as 16Mn, 5MnV, or alloy steel such as 40Cr, 30CrMnSi, 45Mn2, and 40MnB, hot rolled or cold Roll. Seamless pipes made of low carbon steel such as No. 10 and No. 20 are mainly used for fluid transportation pipelines. Medium carbon steel seamless pipes such as 45 and 40Cr are used to manufacture mechanical parts, such as stressed parts of automobiles and tractors. Carbon steel pipes are generally used to ensure strength and flattening tests. Hot-rolled steel pipes are delivered in a hot-rolled or heat-treated state; cold-rolled steel pipes are delivered in a heat-treated state.
Carbon steel can be divided into low carbon steel, medium carbon steel and high carbon steel, mainly based on the carbon content in the steel.
Low carbon steel (also called light steel): The carbon content is usually between 0.04% and 0.30%. Low carbon steel has good plasticity and toughness, can be hot and cold worked, and is easy to weld. Commonly used low carbon steels include Q195, Q215, Q235, etc.
Medium carbon steel: The carbon content is usually between 0.30% and 0.60%. Medium carbon steel has higher strength and hardness, but lower plasticity and toughness. Commonly used medium carbon steels include 45# steel, 40Cr, etc.
High carbon steel: Carbon content usually ranges from 0.60% to 2.00%. High carbon steel has high strength and hardness, but low plasticity and toughness, and poor weldability. Commonly used high carbon steels include 65Mn, T8, T10, etc.
