ASTM A556 is a general standard specification for seamless cold-drawn carbon steel tubing for boiler systems and feedwater heaters. It covers seamless cold-drawn carbon steel pipe with a minimum wall thickness if specified for use in tubular feedwater heaters.
A556 C2 Boiler tubes should be heat treated at 640°C or higher and in the case of elbows the bent portion should be heated in the range of 585 to 640°C.
A556 C2 cold-drawn seamless carbon steel pipe is mainly used in the manufacture of high-temperature heater systems such as pearlescent carbon steel for tubular water heaters, as well as high-pressure heaters such as 300 and 600MW.
