ASTM A179 Mild Steel Condenser Tubes

Mild steel condenser tubes are made of mild steel, which contains less alloy than other steels. They have good formability and weldability and are suitable for bending, threading and welding.
ASTM A179 mild steel pipe is commonly used in condensers for air conditioning and refrigeration systems and other heat exchanger applications.
ASTM A179 is the standard for cold drawn seamless mild steel heat exchanger and condenser steel tubing. These steel pipes are mainly used in tubular heat exchangers, condensers and similar heat transfer devices, and their wall thickness is very thin. This standard applies to steel pipes from 3.2 to 76.2mm.
Chemical composition and physical properties of ASTM A179 steel pipe in addition to size and shape. The carbon content should be between 0.06% and 0.18%, and the manganese content should be between 0.27% and 0.63%. In addition, these steel pipes must also meet some other physical performance requirements, such as hardness, flattening test, non-destructive testing, etc.

ASTM A179 steel tubes are produced in a seamless and cold-drawn process.
The tubes shall be heat-treated at 1200°F or higher after final cold-drawing. The finished pipe shall be no scaling, a small amount of oxide as scale formation and mechanical test, requirement: Flattenting flaring test flange testing hardness test water pressure test.
