A178 carbon steel boiler tubes contain carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur and silicon with elongation between 30% and 35%. In addition, A178 welded high temperature tubes have superb heat resistance. Therefore, it is used in many high temperature and pressure piping.
ASTM A178 pipes and tubes are used for boiler tubes, boiler flues, superheater flues and safety ends. Steel Grade A (mild carbon steel), Grade C (medium carbon steel) or Grade D (carbon manganese steel). The manufacturing process must include heat treatment, cooling and welding.
