API 5L X42 PSL1 pipeline steel pipe is a high-frequency straight-seam resistance welded (ERW) pipe manufactured in accordance with the API 5L standard, primarily used for long-distance pipeline construction in onshore and shallow-water environments within oil and gas transportation systems. The term "PSL" stands for "Product Specification Level," with PSL1 being the grade under this standard that meets basic technical requirements, making it suitable for pipeline projects with relatively conventional performance demands and stable operating environments. Compared to PSL2, PSL1 has relatively relaxed controls over chemical composition, mechanical properties, non-destructive testing, and dimensional tolerances, but it still must meet stringent requirements for pressure-bearing capacity, toughness, and weldability.
