Manufacturing process
L360 straight seam submerged arc welded pipe: bend the steel plate or steel strip into a certain shape, and then weld the two edges together to form a pipe. The production process includes steps such as flattening, bending, preforming, welding, trimming, and compounding. The pipes produced by this process have a smooth surface and uniform wall thickness.
L360 spiral submerged arc welded pipe: bend the steel plate or steel strip into a spiral shape, and then perform submerged arc welding on the spiral seam. The production process includes steps such as shearing, bending, pipe making, welding, straightening, and cutting. The pipes produced by this process have a rough surface and uneven wall thickness.
Performance difference
Strength and pressure bearing: Due to its unique spiral weld structure, the L360 spiral welded pipe has less stress on the weld and can withstand greater pressure. At the same outer diameter, the wall thickness of the spiral welded pipe can be reduced by 10% to 25%, thereby reducing weight while improving economic benefits.
Dimensional accuracy and weldability: The dimensional accuracy of L360 spiral welded pipe is relatively high, the diameter tolerance is generally not more than 0.12%, the deflection is less than 1/2000, and the ovality is less than 1%. Although L360 straight seam welded pipe can also achieve high dimensional accuracy, T-welds may appear during the welding process, which can easily lead to cracks.
Application areas
L360 spiral welded pipe: Widely used in oil and gas transportation, steel pipe piles, bridge piers and other fields that need to withstand high pressure and high stress. Especially in long-distance and large-diameter oil and gas pipeline projects, spiral welded pipes play an irreplaceable role.
L360 straight seam welded pipe: Applicable to urban gas, crude oil and refined oil transportation, tap water engineering, petrochemical industry, chemical industry and other fields. High-frequency straight seam welded pipes are more suitable for the production of small and medium-caliber thin-walled pipes due to their short welds, high dimensional accuracy, and uniform wall thickness.
