Low alloy corrosion resistant steel

In nature or under working conditions, steel materials are constantly and to varying degrees damaged by certain substances in the surrounding environment. This damage may be chemical, electrochemical, or physical. But it is mainly in the form of electrochemical corrosion. Low-alloy corrosion-resistant steel is a type of steel that can resist the above corrosion.
The main feature of this type of steel is that its corrosion resistance in different corrosive environments is significantly better than that of carbon steel and other ordinary low-alloy steels. However, the alloy elements added to improve the corrosion resistance of steel. Often, the strength of the steel is improved while the toughness and weldability are deteriorated.

There is no unified classification standard for this type of steel. According to its corrosion resistance characteristics and application areas, it can be divided into atmospheric corrosion-resistant low-alloy steel, seawater corrosion-resistant low-alloy steel, brine corrosion-resistant low-alloy steel, sulfide stress corrosion-resistant low-alloy steel, hydrogen corrosion-resistant low-alloy steel, and sulfuric acid dew point corrosion-resistant low-alloy steel.
The industry divides the corrosion resistance of commonly used metal materials into 6 categories with a total of 10 levels. Low-alloy high-strength steel belongs to the 8-10 level of the V category of the corrosion resistance classification of the corrosion resistance evaluation standard. The low alloy steel, which we call low alloy corrosion resistant steel, has better corrosion resistance than ordinary carbon steel and is classified as III to IV grades 4 to 7 in the corrosion resistance classification. They include atmospheric corrosion resistant steel and seawater corrosion resistant steel.
