These additional and common tests include:
Chemical composition control: PSL2 requires stricter chemical composition control than PSL1, including higher purity and lower content of unfavorable elements.
Mechanical properties: PSL2 has higher requirements in terms of tensile properties, impact resistance, etc. to avoid brittle fracture. In addition, PSL2 also has higher requirements for tensile strength and yield strength.
Non-destructive testing: PSL2 requires non-destructive testing of each pipe to ensure the safety and integrity of the pipeline. Specific testing methods may include radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, etc..
Hydrostatic testing: PSL2 requires hydrostatic testing of each pipe, and non-destructive testing cannot be used instead of hydrostatic testing.
Pipe End Treatment: The pipe ends of PSL2 require sandblasting to ensure welding quality and reduce corrosion risks
Low Temperature CVN Impact Test: This test evaluates the impact resistance of the pipeline at low temperatures (usually as low as -40°C (-40°F) or lower) to ensure the performance of the pipeline during operation in cold climates or winter.
Weldability Test: This evaluation evaluates the ability of the pipeline to be welded without affecting its mechanical properties, ensuring the integrity of the welded joint.
Hardness Test: This test measures the surface hardness of the pipeline, which is important for resisting wear, abrasion and deformation during installation and operation.
Drop Weight Tear Test (DWTT): This test measures the pipeline's resistance to brittle fracture, which is critical to ensuring the integrity of the pipeline in high-pressure, high-stress applications.
