GB/T 9711-2024: Applicable to the transportation steel pipes in the oil and gas industry, and can also be used for transportation steel pipes in other industries, such as chemical, water supply and drainage. Its scope of application is relatively wide.
2. Standard system
API-5L: It is a standard formulated by the American Petroleum Institute and belongs to the international standard system. It is widely recognized and adopted worldwide, especially in the oil and gas industry.
GB/T 9711-2024: It is a Chinese national standard, which is formulated by combining domestic actual conditions and international advanced standards. It is mainly used in China, but also used in some international cooperation projects.
3. Steel grade classification:
API-5L: Steel pipes are divided into multiple steel grades, such as A25, B, X42, X52, X60, X70, X80, etc. Each steel grade corresponds to a different minimum yield strength and tensile strength.
GB/T 9711-2024: There is also a similar steel grade classification, but the specific steel grade names and performance requirements may differ from API-5L. For example, there may be L245, L290, L360 and other steel grades in the Chinese standard.
4. Inspection items:
The two standards have some differences in inspection items. For example, API-5L will require more non-destructive testing items, such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, etc.
GB/T 9711-2024 will emphasize some specific inspection items, such as impact testing, hardness testing, etc.
