What is the difference between API 5L X60 Linepipe and A106 GRB Black Pipe?

API 5L X60 and A106 GR.B are two different pipe materials for different applications and standards.

 API 5L X60:

  • Use: Mainly used for oil and gas transportation pipelines.
  • Standard: Conforms to American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.
  • Characteristics: The minimum yield strength of X60 grade steel pipe is 555MPa. This kind of steel pipe improves the mechanical properties of steel through controlled rolling process, the main alloying elements include Nb, V, Ti, etc., and the carbon content is controlled at 0.1-0.14%, which ensures the safety of the steel pipe in the use of high-pressure and harsh environments through this process.

API 5L X60 High Yield Carbon Steel Pipes

 A106 GRB:

  • Use: Mainly used in pipelines under high temperature and high pressure environment, such as chemical industry, electric power and petroleum refining.
  • Standard: Conform to ASTM international standard.
  • Characteristics: The tensile strength of A106 GR.B steel pipe is at least 415MPa and the yield strength is 240MPa. The chemical composition and mechanical properties of this steel pipe have been carefully designed to ensure stability and safety in high temperature and high pressure environments.
