What is the difference between X52 and X65 pipe

In industrial fields such as oil and gas transportation, API 5L X52 and X65 pipes have significant differences.
In terms of chemical composition, the carbon content of X52 is limited to a certain extent, and the manganese content is ≤1.40%. The carbon content requirement of X65 is similar to that of X52, but the manganese content can reach 1.65% and contains more alloying elements such as vanadium, niobium, and titanium.
In terms of mechanical properties, the minimum yield strength of X52 is 360MPa and the tensile strength is 460MPa; the minimum yield strength of X65 is 450MPa and the tensile strength is 535MPa. X65 has higher strength and can withstand greater pressure and load. It can maintain good toughness in low temperature or complex environment, and is more suitable for oil and gas pipelines with high impact toughness requirements.
Therefore, in application, X52 is used for general oil and gas transportation and fluid and structural parts related work in the fields of chemical industry, construction, etc.; X65 is mainly used for long-distance and large-diameter transportation of high-pressure oil and gas trunk lines, and its high strength and toughness adapt to harsh working conditions.
In terms of welding performance, X52 has good weldability. Although X65 can be welded, due to its high carbon and manganese content, the process parameters need to be strictly controlled during welding.
