API 5L X42 PIpeline description
X42 pipeline steel tubing is a type of pipeline tubing under API 5L standards, with a minimum yield strength of 42,000 psi (approximately 290 MPa). This steel tubing offers excellent strength, toughness, and weldability, capable of withstanding high internal pressure and external loads. Depending on the manufacturing process, X42 pipeline steel tubing can be categorized into two main types: seamless steel tubing and welded steel tubing. Among welded steel tubing, there are two forms: straight-seam welded tubing and spiral welded tubing. Spiral welded tubing is particularly widely used in long-distance transmission pipelines due to its advantages of simple manufacturing process, lower cost, and ability to produce large-diameter tubing.
In terms of material composition, X42 pipeline steel tubing is primarily made of carbon steel or low-alloy steel. To enhance corrosion resistance, some X42 pipeline steel tubing undergoes anti-corrosion treatments, with common methods including 3PE anti-corrosion and epoxy powder coating. Regarding dimensional specifications, the diameter of X42 pipeline steel tubing typically ranges from 219mm to 1420mm, while the wall thickness varies from 6mm to 40mm depending on specific engineering requirements.
