According to API 5L 46th edition, each batch of API 5L X42 steel pipes must undergo multiple inspections, including hydrostatic testing (test pressure at 1.5 times the rated pressure), weld X-ray testing, and full-body ultrasonic testing. GNEE Group has also introduced an automated phased array testing system capable of detecting welding defects as small as 0.5mm.
In terms of third-party certification, in addition to the standard API monogram certification, X42M welded pipes must also obtain certifications from international classification societies such as DNV GL and BV, and comply with Chinese and international standards including ISO 3183 and GB/T 9711.
