API 5L X 42 PSL1 Line Pipe Black Painting description
X42 seamless steel tubing belongs to the PSL1 grade pipeline steel under API 5L standards, with a minimum yield strength of 290 MPa (42 ksi), demonstrating significant mechanical performance advantages. Through micro-alloying design and controlled rolling and cooling processes, this material maintains excellent impact toughness at -20°C, with Vickers hardness controlled in the range of 220-250 HV, ensuring deformation resistance under complex geological conditions. Compared to ordinary carbon steel tubing, X42 steel tubing strictly limits sulfur content to below 0.015% and phosphorus content to no more than 0.025%, significantly enhancing its resistance to hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC). Actual application data from an oil field show that gas pipelines using X42 seamless steel tubing have a service life extended by over 40% compared to ordinary tubing in H₂S-containing media.
