Ferritic stainless steel refers to stainless steel with 10.5%~30% chromium content and no nickel. Main stage, including 405, 409, 410, 430, 434, 439, 441, 445, 446, 447, the most widely used of which is the 409, 410, 430 series. Ferritic stainless steel contains more chromium than austenitic stainless steel, is more expensive and can sometimes be used as a replacement material for 304 or 200 series stainless steel. According to the chromium content, it can be divided into three groups: Cr10%~15%, Cr16%~20%, and Cr21%~30%.
10%-14%Cr: 409, 410L.
409,410 has the lowest chromium content and is the cheapest of all ferritic stainless steels, and is suitable for environments where corrosion is not tolerated or minor corrosion and localized minor rust. Type 409 was originally designed specifically for automotive exhaust mufflers. 410L stainless steel has low carbon content, good bending performance of welded parts, processing performance, high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance. It is often used in automobile exhaust steam treatment devices, boiler combustion chambers, nozzles, containers, buses, etc. In recent years, it is also used as LCD Show frame.
14%-18%Cr: 430, 430ti, 439, 434, 436, 444
430 is the most widely used ferritic stainless steel, and the higher chromium gives it better corrosion resistance. In some applications, 304 can be replaced. Typical uses include washing machine drums, interior panels, kitchen equipment, food industry, etc.
430TI and 439 contain stabilizing elements Ti and Nb and have good weldability and formability. Typical applications include the food industry, kitchen tools, heat exchangers (sugar, energy, etc.), automotive exhaust systems (service time longer than 409), and welded parts of washing machines, or even replacement of 304 for more demanding applications. 430Ti has better welding performance, better intergranular corrosion resistance, deeper drawing performance, better impact toughness and a lower brittle transition temperature than 430 stainless steel. Type 439 is commonly used in architectural decoration, automobile exhaust systems and washing machine inner barrels. 441 stainless steel has good high temperature resistance and is commonly used in the manifold and front pipe sections of exhaust pipes. 434, 436 and 444 contain more molybdenum and have stronger corrosion resistance, with 444 having almost the same corrosion resistance as 316. Typical applications are hot water tanks, solar water heaters, car exhaust systems, electrical heating kettles and microwave oven components, car trim strips and outdoor panels.
18%-30%: 446,445/447cr
Superferrite stainless steel 446, 445/447 contains more chromium and molybdenum, its corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance are better than 316, and it has good Cl ion corrosion resistance. Typical uses include coastal and other highly corrosion-resistant environments
