The uses and classification of geological pipes
Geological pipe (YB235-70) is a hollow-section steel pipe that is widely used to transport various fluids, such as oil, natural gas, coal gas, water and certain solid materials. According to use and function, geological pipes can be divided into the following categories:
Drill pipe: During the geological exploration process, the pipe is used to connect the drill bit to the drilling rig. The drill bit is rotated to drill underground to explore the underground conditions.
Drill collar: During geological exploration, drill collars are tools used to bring rock core back to the surface. The structure of a drill collar is similar to that of a drill pipe, except that the drill bit of the drill collar has holes that can bring back core samples while drilling into the ground.
Core tube: A core tube is a special geological tube used to collect underground rock samples. During drilling, the drill bit passes through the rock and a core tube brings rock samples back to the surface for analysis.
Casing: Casing is a type of pipe that prevents the walls of a well from collapsing. During drilling, drill collars are passed through the casing to bring core samples back to the surface. The casing prevents the well walls from collapsing and also prevents groundwater contamination.
