Alloy 309 does have excellent corrosion resistance due to its high chromium and low nickel composition, allowing it to be used in sulfur-containing atmospheres at temperatures up to 1832°F (1000°C). However, it is not recommended for use in highly carburized atmospheres as it exhibits moderate resistance to carbon uptake.
