What is the material of A691 pipe?
A691 specification covers carbon and alloy steel pipe, electric-fusion-welded with filler metal added, fabricated from pressure-vessel-quality plate of several analyses and strength levels and suitable for high-pressure service at high temperatures.
ASTM A691 5CR pipe is manufactured according to international standards and specifications such as ASTM A691, ASME SA691. They are divided into different parts such as SCH5, SCH10, SCH80 and SCH160. Normal sizes for these pipes are 16 inches to 100 inches.
The main alloy component of A691 5 CR alloy welded pipe is chromium (Cr), and its content is about 5%. Chromium is a potent antioxidant element that enhances steel's corrosion resistance. Due to the addition of chromium and other alloying elements, A691 5 CR welded pipe is able to maintain its mechanical properties at high temperatures and is suitable for temperatures up to 593°C (1100°F) or higher.
