ASTM A105 Forged Flange

ASTM A105 hot forged flanges, whether die forging or open die forging, are a compression hot working operation. During plastic deformation, the metal flows in the design direction, forming a disk-shaped product close to the finished flange, which is subsequently machined to the precise shape and dimensions of the ASTM A105 carbon steel forged flange.
ASTM A105 forged flanges are made by forming solid steel under high pressure and temperature, improving the mechanical properties with a minimum yield strength of 250MPa and a minimum tensile strength of 485MPa. Because ASTM A105 carbon steel flanges have maximum bending stress at the center, they are successfully used to pressure-contain and seal pipe ends in heavy-pressure applications such as hydraulic systems.
