API 5L Grade X42 PSL1 ERW Pipe

API X42 PSL1 line pipe is a high-frequency straight-seam electric resistance welded (ERW) pipe manufactured in accordance with API 5L standards, primarily used for long-distance pipeline construction in onshore and shallow-water environments within oil and gas transportation systems. The term "PSL" stands for "Product Specification Level," with PSL1 representing the baseline technical requirements within this standard, making it suitable for pipeline projects with relatively routine performance demands and stable operating environments. Compared to PSL2, PSL1 has relatively relaxed controls over chemical composition, mechanical properties, non-destructive testing, and dimensional tolerances, but it still must meet stringent requirements for pressure-bearing capacity, toughness, and weldability.

Test and inspection

Each batch of pipes must undergo multiple inspections, including hydrostatic testing (at 1.5 times the rated pressure), radiographic examination of welds, and full-body ultrasonic testing.
