The API 5L X42 PSL1 welded steel pipe, as a basic grade product under the American Petroleum Institute (API) standard, demonstrates outstanding efficiency and durability in energy transmission. The API 5L X42 PSL1 welded pipe employs the High-Frequency Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) process, utilizing a 150-400 kHz high-frequency current to achieve instantaneous metal fusion. It is equipped with a dual monitoring system of online eddy current testing and ultrasonic flaw detection, achieving a defect detection rate of up to 99.97%, ensuring stable weld quality.

production process of API 5L X42 welded line pipe
The production process of API 5L X42 longitudinal submerged arc welded (LSAW) pipe includes key stages such as steel plate pre-treatment, forming, welding, expanding, and inspection. Compared to seamless steel pipes, LSAW pipes can achieve larger diameters (typically up to 1422mm) and thicker wall thicknesses (exceeding 30mm) by using wider steel plates.
Forming Technology: JCOE (J-C-O-E) or UOE (U-ing O-ing Expanding) processes are employed to ensure precise geometric dimensions of the pipe body.
Welding Process: Multi-wire submerged arc welding (SAW) is commonly used, with configurations of 3-4 wires for internal welding and 2-3 wires for external welding. This setup can increase welding speed to over 1.5 meters per minute while ensuring weld penetration and crack resistance.
Post-Weld Treatment: Mechanical expanding (with an expansion rate of approximately 1.2%) is performed to eliminate residual stress, and online heat treatment is applied to improve the metallographic structure of the weld zone.
