SAW welded steel pipe types and manufacturing processes

SAW steel pipe, full name Submerged Arc Welding Steel Pipe, is a steel pipe manufactured using the submerged arc welding process. The current density generated by this process is very high, and the flux layer prevents the rapid dissipation of heat and concentrates it in the welding area. According to different welding processes, it can be divided into spiral submerged arc welded steel pipes and straight seam submerged arc welded steel pipes.
Among them, spiral seam submerged arc welded steel pipe refers to a metal pipe with a spiral seam welded by submerged arc welding process. It can produce welded pipes with larger diameters with narrower billets, and can also produce welded pipes with different diameters with billets of the same width. The production cost is low, the process is simple, and it is easy to produce large-diameter pipes. Large-diameter welded pipes mostly use spiral seam submerged arc welding process.
The straight seam submerged arc welded pipe is a material formed by JCOE steel pipe, with specifications ranging from 325mm--1420mm. When the diameter of the straight seam submerged arc welded pipe is greater than 914.4, the standard stipulates that the steel pipe is allowed to have two straight welds. The production process of LSAW pipe is flexible and can produce any specifications and wall thickness within the production range. The production efficiency is lower than that of high-frequency LSAW steel pipe and spiral welded steel pipe. The biggest advantage of LSAW pipe is that it can produce specifications that high-frequency steel pipe, spiral steel pipe, and even seamless steel pipe cannot produce.

JCOE or UOE Forming Technology:
JCOE Forming Technology: The JCOE procedure has several steps: the steel plate is first pre-bent into a J shape, then further bent into a C shape, and then expanded to the required diameter of the O shape. This procedure ensures that the pipes have the same diameter and wall thickness, resulting in a consistent, high-quality product.
UOE Forming Technology: The steel plate is first bent into a U shape, then into an O shape, and finally expanded to obtain the final size in the UOE process. This method guarantees high-quality welds and uniform wall thickness, resulting in excellent control over the dimensions and mechanical properties of the pipe.
