Mechanical properties
Yield strength: The minimum yield strength of X52 pipe is 358MPa (52 ksi). Yield strength is an important indicator of the beginning of plastic deformation of the pipe under pressure, ensuring that the pipe can maintain the stability of shape and structure within a certain pressure range.
Tensile strength: Usually the tensile strength is higher than the yield strength by a certain proportion, generally between 450MPa and 755MPa, which enables the pipe to withstand tensile force without breaking easily. In the process of conveying the medium, it can resist the tensile stress caused by internal pressure, external load, etc.
Impact toughness: It has a certain impact toughness, especially in low temperature environment, the impact toughness requirement is more critical to resist the impact load that may be encountered during transportation, installation and use. It is generally measured by Charpy impact test, such as the impact energy at -20℃ must meet a certain value.
Hardness: Its hardness is moderate, neither too high to cause processing difficulties, nor too low to affect its wear resistance and deformation resistance. The Brinell hardness is usually around 180HB.
Chemical properties
Corrosion resistance: It can resist the corrosion of the conveying medium and the surrounding environment to a certain extent. The reasonable combination of alloy elements in its chemical composition, such as copper, nickel, chromium, etc., helps to improve the corrosion resistance of the pipeline in some corrosive environments. For example, in an oil and gas transportation environment containing a small amount of hydrogen sulfide, the X52 pipeline can maintain good chemical stability.
Antioxidation: In a high temperature environment, the X52 pipeline has a certain antioxidation ability, which can prevent the pipeline surface from excessive oxidation during contact with oxygen and extend the service life of the pipeline.
Physical properties
Density: Its density is about 7.85g/cm³, which is similar to that of ordinary steel. This is of great significance for weight estimation and support structure design during the transportation, installation and use of the pipeline.
Thermal conductivity: It has a certain thermal conductivity, which can effectively transfer heat and avoid local overheating when transporting high-temperature media. At the same time, this performance needs to be considered in the insulation design of the pipeline.
Linear expansion coefficient: When the temperature changes, the pipeline will expand and contract due to heat and cold. The linear expansion coefficient of the X52 pipeline is relatively stable. In the design and installation of the pipeline system, it is necessary to reserve a certain amount of expansion and contraction space or take corresponding compensation measures to prevent the pipeline from deformation, damage or leakage due to thermal expansion and contraction.
