Manufacturing process:
Welding method selection: The welding methods of X56 pipes mainly include manual arc welding and CO2 gas shielded welding. These methods are suitable for the welding of seamless steel pipes and welded steel pipes 1.
Welding materials: The selection of welding materials is crucial to the quality of welding. Alkaline low-hydrogen electrodes need to be dried before use, generally at a temperature of 250℃~350℃ for 1~2 hours to avoid sudden heating and cracking of the coating 2.
Groove processing: For steel pipes with a wall thickness of more than 5mm, grooves need to be made. The inclination angle of the groove is 30°, and a flat edge of 1.5~3.0mm should be left on the edge close to the inner skin. After the groove processing is completed, the slag and unevenness on the edge need to be removed to ensure the quality of welding 2.
Weld seam treatment: After welding, the welds on the X56 steel pipe must be heat treated. Without this heat treatment, the integrity and quality of the weld cannot be affected. Heat treatment increases the strength and toughness of the weld area, which helps temper any untempered martensite that may have formed during the rapid cooling of the weld.
Testing Requirements:
For a sample of X56 pipe to meet the standard, it must pass several tests. One requirement is a flattening test, in which a section of the pipe is flattened between two parallel plates until the pipe walls meet. This test confirms the ability of the pipe to withstand deformation without cracking or breaking.
In addition to the flattening test, a hydrostatic test is also required. To check for leaks or other signs of failure, this test involves subjecting the pipe to a specific water pressure specified by the standard. Hydrostatic testing can also be used in place of nondestructive electrical tests such as electromagnetic (eddy current) or ultrasonic testing.
