What is api 5l grade l360 carbon steel line pipe

L360 line pipe is a medium-to-high strength seamless steel pipe conforming to national standard GB/T 9711 or API SPEC 5L specifications. It is widely used in oil and gas transportation, urban gas pipelines, heating pipelines, and industrial fluid transportation systems. "L" represents line pipe, and "360" indicates its minimum yield strength of 360 MPa. This type of steel pipe possesses excellent mechanical properties, weldability, and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for long-distance transportation under medium-to-high pressure environments.

Its core characteristics include:

1. Balance of high strength and toughness: While ensuring tensile strength (typically ≥460MPa), it must meet Charpy impact toughness requirements at -20℃ or even lower temperatures to prevent brittle fracture of pipelines under low temperature or high pressure environments.

2. Corrosion resistance: By adding alloying elements such as Cu, Cr, and Ni, its resistance to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) corrosion is improved, making it particularly suitable for oil and gas transportation containing corrosive media.

3. Excellent weldability: The carbon equivalent (Ceq) is controlled below 0.43%, ensuring that cold cracking is not easily generated during on-site welding, adapting to field construction conditions.

L360 Line Pipe Application Areas

L360 is widely used in the following fields:

Oil and Gas Industry: For oil and gas pipelines, including onshore and subsea pipelines.

Chemical Industry: For chemical equipment, storage tanks, and reactors, due to its excellent corrosion resistance.

Building and Structural Engineering: For bridges, building structures, etc., due to its high strength and excellent weldability.
