This part of ISO 3183 specifies the technical delivery conditions for seamless and welded steel pipes (excluding stainless steel) of non-alloy and alloy steels, with basic quality and testing requirements (Grade A), used for conveying and distributing flammable and non-flammable fluids (including water) in the petroleum and natural gas industries.
This part of ISO 3183 includes threaded and extra-heavy threaded line pipes; plain-end pipes, standard-weight plain-end pipes, special plain-end pipes, extra-strong plain-end pipes, double extra-strong plain-end pipes; as well as bell-and-spigot pipes.
The dimensional requirements for threads and thread gauges, gauge practice specifications, gauge tolerances and certifications, as well as thread inspection instruments and methods are given in ISO 10422 and apply to products covered by this part of ISO 3183.
The steel grades covered by this part of ISO 3183 include L175, L210, L245, L290, L320, L360, L390, L415, L450, L485, L555, and intermediate grades above L290.
