What is the purpose of the silent check valve

1. Preventing Water Hammer

Silent check valves can prevent water hammer in piping systems. Water hammer occurs when the flow direction of a medium in a pipe suddenly changes, generating a pressure wave due to inertia. If this pressure wave is not promptly eliminated, the pressure in the pipe system will exceed the pipe's capacity, leading to rupture. Silent check valves automatically close when the flow direction changes, thus preventing water hammer.

2. Protecting Equipment

Silent check valves can protect other equipment in the piping system, such as pumps and valves. In piping systems, the flow direction of the medium cannot be reversed. Reversing the flow direction can damage equipment such as pump blades and valve sealing surfaces. Silent check valves ensure that the medium flows in one direction only, thus preventing damage caused by reverse flow.

3. Reducing Noise

Silent check valves can reduce noise in piping systems. In piping systems, changes in flow direction generate noise due to changes in velocity and pressure. Silent check valves utilize a special structural design to eliminate or reduce the noise generated by the flow.

4. Other Functions

Silent check valves also have other functions, such as preventing media contamination and improving pipeline system safety. In some special applications, silent check valves can also perform isolation, regulation, and flow control functions.
