1. Definition and Use
Definition: X52 pipeline steel is a low-carbon steel produced according to specific standards (such as API
5L, GB/T21237, etc.) and used for pipeline construction. The "X" in its grade represents pipeline steel, and "52" represents the minimum yield strength of the steel plate is 52ksi (1ksi=6.895Mpa), which is about 360Mpa.
Use: Mainly used in pipeline transportation fields such as oil and natural gas, and also suitable for other fluid transportation fields such as chemical raw materials and water. Its high strength, high toughness, good welding performance and corrosion resistance make it an ideal material for these fields.
2. Main characteristics
High strength: X52 pipeline steel has high tensile strength and yield strength, and can withstand high pressure and tensile force.
High toughness: While bearing high pressure, it can avoid cracks or breaks to ensure the safe operation of the pipeline.
Corrosion resistance: In the process of conveying media, it can resist the erosion of various corrosive substances and extend the service life of the pipeline.
Good weldability: Various welding methods can achieve good welding results to ensure the sealing and reliability of the pipeline.
Good economy: Compared with other high-grade steels, the price of X52 pipeline steel is relatively low, which is conducive to reducing the cost of pipeline construction.
III. Chemical composition and mechanical properties
Chemical composition: C content ≤0.26% (welding) or ≤0.28% (seamless), Mn content ≤1.40%, P and S content ≤0.030%, Cu, Ni, Cr content ≤0.5%, Mo content ≤0.15%. In addition, the total content of V, Nb, and Ti should not exceed 0.15%.
Mechanical properties: yield strength ≥360Mpa, tensile strength ≥460Mpa, elongation ≥ a certain value (the specific value is related to the cross-sectional area of the tensile specimen).
IV. Production and inspection
Production process: The production of X52 pipeline steel requires multiple links such as steelmaking, rolling, and heat treatment. Among them, the rolling process includes perforation, tube rolling, sizing, straightening and other steps to ensure the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the steel pipe.
Inspection standards: X52 pipeline steel must comply with the provisions of relevant standards, such as API
5L, GB/T21237, etc. During the inspection process, the chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensional deviation, surface quality, etc. of the steel pipe must be fully tested to ensure that its quality meets the standard requirements.
