ASTM A135 Gr.B ERW pipe is a high-quality resistance welded steel pipe mainly used for transporting gas, steam, water or other liquids. This type of pipe is used in a variety of industries such as fire protection systems, pipeline construction, and general applications.
ASTM A135 is the same standard as ASME SA-135 and it covers ERW steel pipes from NPS 2 to NPS 30 [DN 50 to DN 750] with different wall thicknesses and sizes.
A135 ERW carbon steel pipe is suitable for a variety of applications such as transporting gas, steam, water or other liquids. Depending on the size, performance and service conditions of the pipe, manufacturers can choose different manufacturing processes, such as non-expanded or cold-expanded pipes.
A135 ERW steel pipe is ideal for transporting gases, steam, water and other liquids. Where flanging or bending is required, Grade A steel pipes should be preferred. For different application requirements, the selection should be combined with the size, performance and use conditions of the steel pipe. Manufacturers can choose to perform non-expansion or cold expansion processing. It is important that during the cold expansion process, the diameter expansion must be controlled within 1.5% of the outer diameter of the pipe.

ASTM A135 pipe tolerance:
Thickness: the minimum wall thickness at any point shall be more than 12.5%under specified wall thickness.
Diameter: the outside diameter shall not vary more than +-1%from norminal size specified.
Weight: the weight of the pipe shall not more than +-10%of the specified weight.
Manufacturing and heat treatment
Welds of ERW pipe conforming to ASTM A135 Class B shall be heat treated after welding to a minimum temperature of 1000°F [540°C] or in such a manner that no untempered martensite remains.
