The production process of ERW steel pipes generally adopts resistance welding process. ERW welded steel pipe is made by bending steel strip or steel plate into the required shape, and then going through processes such as welding, heat treatment and mechanical processing.

ERW welded pipe is made by strip rolling and seam welding, with tighter dimensional tolerances and lighter weight. The weld is heat treated after welding so that no untempered martensite remains and the weld flash on the inner and outer surfaces can be removed.

ASTM A53 ERW steel pipe is a typical carbon steel pipe. It is mainly used to transport low/medium pressure fluids such as oil, natural gas, steam, water, air and also in mechanical applications.

ERW pipe technology

Precision welded pipe is manufactured using a high-frequency induction welding process, commonly known as the ERW process. After the slit/roll is cut to the desired size, the roll is loaded on a pay-off reel, passed through an annular cage, and then into a series of forming rollers that bend the strip into a tubular form with adjoining edges. The abutting edges are then heated to the required welding temperature by high-frequency induction. The burrs are removed with the help of a flame cleaning tool, then the welded pipe is passed through the coolant tank and cooled.
