LSAW steel pipe VS DSAW steel pipe

In the field of manufacturing large-diameter pipelines (such as pipelines for transporting natural gas or oil), LSAW (longitudinal submerged arc welding) and DSAW (double-sided submerged arc welding) are common welding methods.
The two have many similarities. In terms of welding technology, both use submerged arc welding to ensure weld quality and penetration. In terms of application, both are widely used in scenarios where high-strength, large-diameter steel pipes are required, such as oil and gas pipeline projects. In addition, the steel pipes manufactured by both have more prominent welds inside and outside.
However, there are also differences between the two. In terms of weld type, DSAW welds can be straight (along the length of the pipe) or spiral (spiral wrapping the pipe body), depending on the purpose and specifications, while LSAW welds can only be longitudinal, that is, welded along the longitudinal length of the steel plate after processing into a pipe and the DSAW pipe has seam welds inside and outside, while the LSAW pipe has a single seam weld on the outer surface, longitudinal or cross-section. In terms of major steel pipe applications, DSAW is more suitable for different pressures and diameters due to its diverse weld forms. Spiral DSAW has obvious advantages in long-distance pipelines; LSAW is particularly suitable for urban infrastructure and high-pressure applications, such as water and gas transmission. In terms of pipe performance, spiral welded DSAW is not as good as LSAW in terms of stress tolerance. LSAW uses steel plates formed by JCOE and other processes, and the mechanical properties of the pipe wall are more uniform.
