API 5CT L80-9Cr pipe is used in hydrogen-rich environments because it resists hydrogen-induced corrosion commonly known as HIC.
What is the difference between API 5CT L80-1 casing and L80-9Cr casing?
L80-1 steel pipe is used in H2S working conditions, while L80-9Cr alloy pipe is used in CO2 environment, such as severely corroded wells, and is a casing with high corrosion resistance. L80-1 pipe is a general oil pipe, and L80-9Cr oil pipe is suitable for more complex geological conditions and goes deep into the well.
API 5CT L80-9Croil and gas well casing has higher chromium content and the minimum tensile strength is 655MPa. It can only be made using seamless process.
