API-5CT N80 oilfield casing includes N80-1 and N80-Q types. The two materials have exactly the same chemical composition and mechanical properties, and only differ in the way they are heat treated. During the heat treatment process, N80-1 steel pipes undergo normalizing and tempering, while N80Q steel pipes undergo quenching and tempering. Therefore, when selecting N80 seamless steel pipe, N80-1 casing or N80Q casing should be clearly marked.
Since N80 material has the advantages of higher capacity and higher mechanical properties than k55, these API-5CT steel casings are widely used in oil and gas extraction, natural gas and coal bed methane extraction and geothermal wells.
