BS1387 Hot Galvanized Steel Pipe
BS1387 standardizes the requirements for welded and seamless steel pipes, specifying dimensions, mechanical properties, testing, and galvanization.
What is BS1387 Pipe?
BS1387 pipe is a British standard pipe, mainly used for welded black pipes screwed into BS21 pipe threads. This type of pipe is widely used for gas, air and water transportation, civil and other structural purposes. BS1387 ERW galvanized steel pipe is one of them, its nominal size is DN8-DN150, with light, medium and thick wall thickness. This kind of steel pipe is hot-dip galvanized and has excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance, so it is widely used in various fields.
BS1387 steel pipe is a composite pipe made of straight seam steel pipe or seamless steel pipe as the base pipe, which is compounded with plastic through a heated spraying process. The outer surface of this steel pipe is galvanized and the inner wall is coated with a plastic coating, making it corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant.
The principle of hot-dip galvanized steel pipe BS1387 is to use galvanized steel pipe as the base pipe, and the inner wall is coated with high adhesion, anti-corrosion, food-grade hygienic polyethylene powder coating or epoxy resin coating. Made through pretreatment, preheating, inner coating, leveling and post-treatment processes, it is an upgraded product of traditional galvanized pipes. BS1387 zinc steel pipe is available in a variety of sizes, lengths and thicknesses, making it suitable for a variety of different applications. This type of pipe is commonly used in water and gas systems, as well as other applications that require corrosion protection, such as scaffolding and fencing. In addition, it is also widely used in the production of furniture, auto parts, agricultural machinery and other products.

Pre Galvanised Steel Pipes

BS1387 hot-dip galvanized steel tube production process
Surface treatments, such as chemical cleaning or sanding, are often performed to ensure a smooth and clean surface.
The steel pipes are degreased to remove surface grease and then soaked in a pickling tank to remove oxides and other surface dirt.
There are usually two methods: hot-dip galvanizing and electro-galvanizing.
Hot-dip galvanizing: The steel pipe is immersed in molten zinc heated to a certain temperature, so that the zinc reacts with the surface of the steel to form a protective coating.
Electro-galvanizing: Through electrochemical methods, electric current is used to deposit zinc on the surface of steel pipes to form a protective coating. This method is usually used for galvanizing of light or small structures with corrosion protection requirements.
