Carbon Thin-walled Steel Pipes
Thin-walled carbon steel pipes are carbon steel pipes with relatively thin wall thickness and are often used in situations where pipe lightweighting, cost control and thermal conductivity are required.
How to distinguish between thin-walled and thick-walled carbon steel pipes?
1. The thickness range of carbon steel pipes is relatively wide, generally between 0.8mm-45mm. Among them, carbon steel pipes between 0.8mm and 4mm are generally called thin-walled carbon steel pipes, and carbon steel pipes above 4mm are called thick-walled carbon steel pipes. The thicker the carbon steel pipe, the greater its ability to withstand pressure and temperature.
2. Carbon steel thin-walled pipes are mainly used in fields such as low-pressure fluid transportation, structural pipes and machinery manufacturing. In terms of low-pressure fluid transportation, thin-walled pipes are widely used in underground water pipes such as urban water supply, gas pipes, and heating pipes; structural pipes are mainly used in structures such as inner frames and supports of buildings, requiring smooth appearance and high strength; in mechanical manufacturing, Commonly used in manufacturing fields such as automobile parts and bicycle frames.
3. Thick-walled pipes are mainly used for transportation pipelines under high pressure and high temperature conditions. It can withstand higher pressure and temperature and is widely used in high-tech fields such as chemical industry, petroleum, natural gas, electric power, aviation, aerospace, and nuclear industry. It is very important. For example, in the petrochemical production process, high-pressure and high-temperature transportation pipelines usually use carbon steel thick-walled pipes for transportation, and are also widely used in the aviation and aerospace fields.
1. Pipe diameter
The diameter of carbon steel thin-walled pipes is usually expressed in inches or millimeters. Common pipe diameter specifications range from 1/8 inch to 72 inches, and the corresponding millimeters range from 3.18mm to 1828.8mm. Among them, carbon steel thin-walled pipes with pipe diameters from 1/8 inch to 12 inches are represented by the outer diameter (OD) of the pipe, and carbon steel thin-walled pipes with pipe diameters greater than 12 inches are represented by the nominal diameter (DN).
2. Wall thickness
The wall thickness of carbon steel thin-walled pipe is usually expressed in metric or imperial units, either in millimeters or inches. Common wall thickness specifications are SCH10, SCH20, SCH30, SCH40, SCH60, SCH80, SCH100, SCH120, SCH140, and SCH160. The larger the number, the thicker the pipe wall.
3. Length
The length of carbon steel thin-walled pipes is usually in meters. Common length specifications are 6 meters, 12 meters or customized according to customer needs.
