S31803 (F51/SAF 2205) is a duplex stainless steel grade, also known as 2205 stainless steel or S31803 stainless steel pipe.
S31803 stainless steel pipe is a duplex stainless steel in which austenite and ferrite coexist in approximately half proportions. The proportion of its ferrite phase and austenite phase is between 45% and 55%. Duplex S31803 stainless steel pipe is known for its high strength, corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Not only that, it also has good welding performance. and processing properties, so it is widely used in the manufacturing field.
The yield strength of S31803 duplex stainless steel pipe is twice that of austenitic stainless steel, and it has higher mechanical strength and advantages compared with 316 and 317L stainless steel.
The advantage of S31803 Stainless Steel Hollow Pipe is that it can withstand higher pressures and temperatures and is less prone to stress corrosion cracking. UNS S31803 Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe & Tubes Heat Treatment
The best suited heat treatment for this grade is solution treatment (annealing), between 1020 - 1100°C, followed by rapid cooling. Grade 2205 can be work hardened but cannot be hardened by thermal methods.
