API 5L Grade B Seamless Steel Pipes

API 5L seamless steel pipe is produced through a seamless manufacturing process, usually through hot rolling, cold drawing or rotary extrusion. Seamless pipes generally outperform welded pipes in terms of surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
API 5L carbon steel pipe is a seamless or welded steel pipe produced in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute (API) 5L specification and is mainly used for the transportation of oil, natural gas and water.
API 5L PSL 1 steel pipe is the first level in the API 5L specification, which means that the mechanical properties and material requirements of the steel pipe meet the first level requirements of the API 5L specification. It means that the mechanical properties and materials of the pipe meet the first-level requirements of the API 5L specification. This demonstrates the high quality and reliability of this grade of pipe.
API 5L PSL 2 carbon steel pipe is available in sizes from 1/2" to 48" NB (nominal bore) and Sch 10 to XXS (extra strong). The yield strengths of these pipes range from a minimum of 245MPa (35,500 psi) to a maximum of 450MPa (65,300 psi), depending on the steel grade.

c. The specified minimum elongation, Af, expressed in percent and rounded to the nearest percent, shall be determined using the following equation:

Axc is the applicable tensile test piece cross-sectional area, expressed in square millimeters (square inches) , as follows
– for circular cross-section test pieces, 130mm2 (0.20 in2) for 12.7 mm (0.500 in) and 8.9 mm (.350 in) diameter test pieces; and 65 mm2 (0.10 in2) for 6.4 mm (0.250in) diameter test pieces.
– for full-section test pieces, the lesser of a) 485 mm2 (0.75 in2) and b) the cross-sectional area of the test piece, derived using the specified outside diameter and the specified wall thickness of the pipe, rounded to the nearest 10 mm2 (0.10in2)
– for strip test pieces, the lesser of a) 485 mm2 (0.75 in2) and b) the cross-sectional area of the test piece, derived using the specified width of the test piece and the specified wall thickness of the pipe, rounded to the nearest 10 mm2 (0.10in2)
U is the specified minimum tensile strength, expressed in megapascals (pounds per square inch)
